Frequently Asked Questions
What documents do I need to rent a car from TEP RENTALS?
To rent a car from TEP RENTALS, you'll need a valid driver's license (held for at least 1 year), a passport or national ID, and a credit card for the security deposit. International visitors need an International Driving Permit along with their original license. All documents must be valid for the entire rental period.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our standard cancellation policy allows free cancellations up to 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time. Cancellations within 48 hours may be subject to a fee equal to one day's rental. No-shows will be charged the full booking amount. For special events or peak season bookings, different cancellation terms may apply, so please check your specific booking details.
Is there a mileage limit on your car rentals?
Most of our standard rental packages include unlimited mileage within Rwanda. For specialty or luxury vehicles, there may be a daily mileage limit of 200-300 km, with an additional charge for excess kilometers. If you're planning a long-distance trip, please inform us beforehand so we can offer you the most suitable package.
Do you offer insurance coverage with your rentals?
Yes, all our rentals come with basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection insurance. This covers damage to the rental vehicle with a standard excess amount. We also offer premium insurance packages that can reduce or eliminate the excess. Personal belongings, tire damage, windscreen damage, and other specific items may require additional coverage. We recommend discussing your insurance needs with our team before finalizing your booking.
Can I drive the rental car across borders into neighboring countries?
Cross-border travel with our rental vehicles requires prior authorization and additional insurance coverage. If you plan to drive to Uganda, Tanzania, or other neighboring countries, please inform us at least 72 hours before your trip so we can arrange the necessary permits and documentation. Additional fees apply for cross-border travel, and some vehicle categories may have restrictions on international travel.
